Medals have been awarded in Cymbalista Jewish Heritage Center of Tel Aviv University, devoted to the centennial of Swedish diplomat and Righteous among Nations Raoul Wallenberg.

Medal awarding ceremony took place in Cymbalista Jewish Heritage Center of Tel Aviv University, organized by the Raoul Wallenberg International Foundation and Embassy of Sweden in Israel.
As we know, this year marked the centennial of Swedish diplomat, Righteous among Nations Raoul Wallenberg, who has saved hundreds of Jewish lives during the Holocaust.

Vice president of Raoul Wallenberg International Foundation and Chief of Jerusalem branch Mr. Danny Rainer and Ambassador Extraordinary and Preliminary of Sweden in Israel Mrs. Elinor Hammarskjöld awarded medals to the directors of Tel Aviv and Hebrew Universities Haim Avin and Dina Porat respectively for their merits; Max Grunberg and mayor of city Eilat also received medals.

It is more than 2 years that the Chairman of the Board of Trustees is our compatriot, Argentinian born businessman Eduardo Eurnekian who supported a number of projects for the benefit of Armenians.

„This project is very remarkable, as we can see the sufferings and similarities between two nations, Armenians and Jewish; 21 Armenian men and women have been recognized as Righteous among Nations by Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum. The aim of our foundation is to find new stories about Armenian heroes who have saved the lives of Jewish people during Second World War”.
It is around a year and a half that a bilingual website entitled “Friends of Armenia” is working on Internet, providing various information and separate stories of Armenian heroes, who have saved Jewish people.

“I think that we are keen to continue these projects and strengthen the cultural relationships between the two nations, and the discovery of new Armenian saviors is also very vital”.
