Protest Action took place in Israel

Demonstration was organized in front of the Turkish embassy in Tel Aviv and the majority of people from different parts of the country hurried to Jerusalem this morning. Armenians from Jaffa and the members of Petah Tiqwa “Nairi” Union joined the Armenians from Haifa and participated in the events taking place in Jerusalem. First, a requiem service was held at the Cathedral of St. James, and then the representatives of Armenian organization of traditional parties put flowers in front of the cross-stones in of St. Zharangavorats School. Later on, a requiem service was held by the Armenian priests of Jerusalem after which the Armenians moved on to the Turkish embassy. Around 400 Armenians had gathered in front of the consulate. There were a lot of posters in Hebrew and English saying “We can't forget the Turkish butchers”, “Armenians demand justice” and “Jewish people is with us and where is the government?”. Photos of killed Gurgen Margaryan could also been seen.

There was only one speech by the representative of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation party Serob Sahakyan who talked not only about our claims but stressed also that today is a real celebration: “It is a celebration for me because we proved to the Turkish government once again that we exist and will always exist”. At the end of the demonstration, Armenians moved on to the old city of Jerusalem. Documentary film by Armenian director from Sweden Suzanne Khardalian entitled “My Grandma’s Tattoos’ will be shown at Homenetmen club in the evening.
