The letter to Knesset

The letter to Knesset

Dear Members of the Knesset

On behalf of the Jewish Community in Armenia, we congratulate you on the 19th convocation of the Knesset. We wish you good health, blessings and success. We are confident that you will spare no effort to justify the trust of the voters.

Hereby we kindly ask you to consider the fact of the massacre of the peaceful Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire in 1915 and to acknowledge that wicked crime as Genocide. Such atrocities, as crimes against humanity, do not have statutes of limitation and should not be disregarded, but rather dealt with so they happen never again!

We are troubled by the barbarousness of terrorists, increasing occurrence of antisemitism, as well as the flagrant denial of the Holocaust, which have lately become more recurrent. We frankly hope you would join votes of more than twenty countries that have accepted and condemned the Genocide of the Armenians. It is now the time to express compassion to the Armenian people. This move will be a convincing evidence to the greatness and independence of the civilized Jewish State, whose people deserve the right to be honest before its coming generations.

In deep and sincere respect

Rimma Varzhapetyan (Feller)

Chairperson, Jewish Community of Armenia
Member, General Council of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress
