A symbol of unity, collective strength and unbreakable will: The second Pan-Armenian Winter Games ended in Jermuk

The closing ceremony of the Second Pan-Armenian Winter Games was held in Jermuk.

The event was attended by the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Chairman of the Governmental Organizing Committee for the Pan-Armenian Games Arayik Harutyunyan, the Governor of Vayots Dzor Region Kolya Mikaelyan, the Mayor of Jermuk Vahagn Arsenyan, the Chairman of the World Council of the Pan-Armenian Games Ishkhan Zakaryan, and other officials.

The President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, welcoming those present, emphasized that the Second Pan-Armenian Winter Games once again brought together compatriots living in different corners of the world.

“These Games are not only a sporting event, but also a symbol of our solidarity, collective strength and unbreakable will. I would like to congratulate all the winners, prize-winners and participants of the Games, with whose dedication this Pan-Armenian holiday was held,” said Vahagn Khachaturyan.

The Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Chairman of the Governmental Organizing Committee for the Pan-Armenian Games Arayik Harutyunyan also welcomed the attendees.

“I, honestly, did not expect that the second Winter Games would turn into such a bright holiday. We saw competition, unity and brotherhood at all the games. Each such event is an opportunity for us to develop our capabilities, because Armenia, especially in recent years, has been hosting major sports events, which will continue in the coming years,” said Arayik Harutyunyan and reminded that in 2027 Armenia will host the Pan-Armenian Games, the Francophonie Sports and Cultural Games and a number of other major events.

The Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister also thanked the compatriots of Vayots Dzor, especially the city of Jermuk, for their hospitality.

An award ceremony was also held within the framework of the event. The delegation of Kotayk region was recognized as the “Best Delegation” of the Second Pan-Armenian Winter Games. The Montreal team was awarded the “Fair Play” award. The Volgograd team was recognized as the Discovery of the Second Pan-Armenian Winter Games, and the Lebanese team was awarded the “Sportsmanship and Courage” award.

The chief referee of the Games, Deputy Head of the Sports Policy Department of the RA Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs, David Baghumyan was awarded a certificate of appreciation for the Pan-Armenian Games.

The Second Pan-Armenian Winter Games were held in hockey, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, snowboarding, chess, snow wrestling and sport dancing sports. More than 1,340 delegates from 88 cities in 18 countries around the world participated in the games, which were held for the second time. The Pan-Armenian Games were served by 76 referees and 150 volunteers.
