Alen Simonyan’s speech in 10th Armenia-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum

On June 6, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan together with the Speaker of the Federal Council of the RF Federal Assembly Valentina Matvienko participated in the opening of the 10th Armenia-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum and gave a speech.

“Dear ambassadors,

Dear participants of the Forum,

Ladies and gentlemen,

I am glad to welcome you in Yerevan.

Today, we are hosting the jubilee 10th Armenia-Russia Interregional Forum, which is an important platform for deepening cooperation between our countries. It is taking place in the context of one of the most memorable events for us – the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.

It is symbolic that the opening of the Forum is attended by our honorary guest, the Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Honorable Valentina Matvienko, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Armenia.

The Armenian-Russian partnership relations has a rich history, based on mutual respect, trust and centuries-old friendship between our peoples. However, the very interregional ties give these relations a living breath, practical content and stability. These relations touch upon important spheres of people’s daily life, from the economy, education and culture to tourism and healthcare.

Today’s Forum witnesses the commitment to deepening the Armenian-Russian relations. Here, initiatives are formed that later become reality, turning into clear programmes in the fields of industry, agriculture, energy, science, and innovation.

I would like specially to emphasize the importance of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. Exchange programmes in the spheres of education, culture, youth, and science form a solid and stable foundation for bilateral relations in the long term.

The decentralized cooperation creates wide opportunity to boost the direct ties and the joint initiatives.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Today, when the world is facing numerous challenges and transformations, more than ever, it is important to establish stable, mutually beneficial and long-term cooperation between states and regions and take steps towards development.

I am convinced that the will create new opportunities for Armenian-Russian cooperation, serving as an important impetus for the further development of partnership relations and the deepening of interregional ties for the benefit of our two peoples.

Thank you for your attention,” the NA President concluded his speech.
