Armenia Capta by Tiberius for Augustus in 20 BC

Tiberius Augustus ruled the Roman Empire from AD 14 to AD 37. During his reign, Armenia was at the center of the rivalry between Rome and Parthia. In this period, the Armenian throne was successively held by Vonones I, who ruled approximately from AD 12 to 18, and then, with Roman support, Artaxias III, who ruled from about AD 18 to 34. After the death of Artaxias III, Armenia once again became an arena of confrontation between Roman and Parthian influence, and stable royal authority was not established for a time.
