On June 6, the Ambassador of Armenia to the United States, Lilit Makunts, participated in the official opening ceremony of Armenia’s Honorary Consulate in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. This was reported by the Embassy of Armenia in the U.S.
The event was attended by representatives from the state authorities of Ohio and the city of Cleveland, Armenia’s Honorary Consul in Chicago Oscar Tatosian, honorary consuls from other countries, as well as members of the Armenian community.
In her speech, Ambassador Lilit Makunts congratulated Armenia’s newly appointed Honorary Consul, Sergey Edilyan, and expressed hope that the opening of the consulate would bring new momentum to the further development and deepening of Armenia–U.S. relations, as well as strengthen ties between the Armenian community and the Embassy of Armenia in the U.S.
Speeches were also delivered by Honorary Consul Sergey Edilyan; Tobias Engel, representative of the Governor of Ohio and Head of International Affairs at the Office of Strategic Investments; and Jayden R. Baxter, Special Assistant to the Mayor of Cleveland.
The event concluded with an Armenian folk dance and piano performances of works by Arno Babajanyan.
