On October 2, an official reception dedicated to the 34th anniversary of Armenia’s Independence and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Canada was held at the Embassy.

According to the Embassy, the event was opened with welcoming remarks and a congratulatory message by Her Excellency Ambassador Anahit Harutyunyan. The Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Canada, His Grace Bishop Abgar Hovakimyan, also delivered a speech. On the occasion of these anniversaries, congratulatory messages were sent by the Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, the Armenian-Canadian Member of the Ontario Provincial Parliament, Aris Papikyan, and the Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian.

Congratulating the attendees on these two important and interrelated events, Ambassador Harutyunyan emphasized the meaning of independence, particularly highlighting that the future of the state is shaped not only by the challenges it faces but also by its ability to respond to them — through unity, dignity, and a deep awareness of its actions. Referring to the 30th anniversary of the Embassy, Ambassador Harutyunyan highly valued the invaluable and devoted contribution of the Armenian community of Canada to the establishment of the Embassy building, as well as its continuous support to Armenia through various initiatives.

The musical part of the event featured performances by Canadian-Armenian soprano Sasha Djihanian and pianist Arten Arabyan. The reception was attended by Armenia’s Honorary Consul in Quebec, Levon Afeyan, representatives of Canada’s executive and legislative bodies, numerous members of the Armenian community who were involved in the founding of the Embassy, as well as figures from the fields of culture and science.
