The EU mission has a positive impact on ensuring stability on the internationally recognized borders of Armenia and Azerbaijan. It is precisely because of its role as a factor of stability that the EU Monitoring Mission is often targeted and subjected to unjustified criticism by various countries. Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan said this during an event marking the second year of the deployment of the European Union Monitoring Mission in Armenia.
“We are also not surprised that sometimes the content of criticism coming from two different capitals coincides by almost 90 percent.
We consider the false propaganda against the EU mission unacceptable and will continue our joint work with the mission to counter fake news.
“The mission is also positively changing the perceptions of the Armenian public about the EU,” said Armen Grigoryan, adding that the Armenia-EU relations are valuable, strong, promising and expanding.
According to the Secretary of the Security Council, the EU mission has repeatedly proven its demand. A vivid example is the work of the mission before the Pashinyan-Blinken-Von der Leyen meeting in Brussels on April 5, when accusations were being made against Armenia and false rumors were being spread that Armenia was preparing for an attack.
“The EU mission played an important role here, which through its observations refuted the false rumors and helped stabilize the situation,” he said.
