Former German MP Found Guilty of Accepting Bribes from Baku

Eduard Lintner, a former member of Germany’s Christian Social Union party, has been found guilty of accepting bribes from Azerbaijan, according to German media reports. The Munich Prosecutor’s Office accused Lintner of using Azerbaijani funds to bribe other officials in order to secure pro-Azerbaijani votes within the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

It is reported that between 2008 and 2016, Lintner received approximately 4 million euros from Baku. According to the court ruling, the corruption scheme was carefully planned. The trial lasted six months. Lintner was sentenced to a nine-month suspended prison term.
