Iran's Supreme Leader says Israel initiated a war

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a statement on Friday that Israel initiated a war and said it will not be allowed to do “hit and run” attacks without grave consequences, Reuters reports.

“The Zionist regime (Israel) will not remain unscathed from the consequences of its crime. The Iranian nation must be guaranteed that our response will not be half-measured,” Khamenei said in a statement.

“The Zionist regime made a grave mistake. It acted wrongly, and by God’s will, the consequences will bring it to ruin. Our armed forces are prepared, and the country’s officials and all segments of the people stand firmly behind them. Life will become bitter for them, without a doubt. They should not think they struck and it’s over — no. They started this and triggered a war. We will not allow them to walk away unscathed from the great crime they have committed. Certainly, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic will inflict heavy blows on this wicked enemy. The nation stands with us — stands behind the armed forces and the Islamic Republic — and God willing, will overcome the Zionist regime. The dear people should know this, be assured, and rest easy that there will be no leniency in this regard,”Khamenei said.
