At least 20 senior Iranian commanders, including the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the commander of the Aerospace Forces, Amir Ali Hajizadeh, were killed in Israeli strikes on Iran on Friday, two regional sources told Reuters.
Israel’s campaign against Iran’s nuclear program, its military leadership and its missile arsenal is far from over, as Israel has planned a 14-day operation, a senior Israeli official told the Wall Street Journal.
The likely duration of the operation is consistent with analysts’ expectations that a single wave of strikes would not be enough to damage Iran’s nuclear program and that Israel’s comprehensive approach to simultaneously target Iranian facilities, leadership and arsenal to limit the possibility of a retaliatory strike.
