North Korea's Kim vows unconditional support for Russia in meeting with Shoigu

Reuters. North Korea’s state-run television KRT on Thursday (June 5) aired video footage of leader Kim Jong Un meeting with Russia’s Secretary of the Security Council Sergei Shoigu in Pyongyang.

Kim pledged unconditional support for Russia’s position on Ukraine and other international issues during the meeting on Wednesday (June 4) that took place at the headquarters building of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) Central Committee, the state media said.

The two men also discussed strengthening the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership and mutual cooperation in different fields.

A treaty was signed during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Pyongyang last year and a summit with North Korea’s Kim, and includes a mutual defense pact for immediate military assistance if either faces armed aggression.
