President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Vice President of the European Commission and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, who arrived in Armenia on an official visit.

Welcoming the guest, the President specifically stated:
“Today, the Republic of Armenia has adopted a path which, in general terms, we can call the path of democracy, and in this context, cooperation with the European Union is of great importance.

I can say that our cooperation has been successful and covers all areas of our life – political, economic, social, parliamentary, and local levels. We also highly value the support of the European Union in helping Armenia face foreign policy challenges.”

Thanking for the warm reception, Kaja Kallas noted that she was glad to visit Armenia:
“We attach great importance to close Armenia–EU cooperation and are interested in the establishment of lasting peace in your region,” said the EU High Representative.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a broad range of issues related to the multifaceted Armenia–EU partnership.

President Khachaturyan presented Armenia’s foreign policy priorities and fundamental positions, emphasizing that Armenia is firmly committed to establishing peace in the region and building good-neighborly relations with all surrounding countries.

The reforms implemented in Armenia in recent years were highlighted – in justice, anti-corruption, and the development and strengthening of democratic institutions – along with the international support received in these areas.

The participants of the meeting emphasized the consistent efforts made by Armenian authorities toward the consolidation of state and political institutions.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on expanding cooperation in the energy sector, particularly in renewable and “green” energy, underlining the importance of fostering Armenia–EU collaboration in this area and developing new initiatives.
