During a press briefing, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei commented on the statements made by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
“We support the expansion of cooperation among the countries of the region, but we have always emphasized that such actions — the creation of routes — must not violate, even by a single millimeter, the sovereignty, territorial integrity, or internationally recognized borders of any country, nor should they lead to changes in the region’s geopolitical landscape,” Baghaei stated.
He stressed that in some cases, statements made by officials from other countries in the Caucasus region may be misinterpreted. However, Iran’s position is clear and has been presented numerous times.
