At the moment, I cannot say whether there is a clear date for the negotiations on the signing of the peace treaty. The text is ready, there will be no more negotiations on the text. Our expectation is that they will sign it as soon as possible. This was stated by Sargis Khandanyan, a deputy of the Civil Contract faction, during a parliamentary briefing.
“But you know that Azerbaijan is presenting a precondition, which is not an acceptable precondition for Armenia,” he said.
The journalist clarified whether it is the topic of amending the Constitution, Khandanyan answered yes.
The journalist responded, meaning is it a deadlock situation, Khandanyan answered: “I wouldn’t say there’s a deadlock on the peace treaty, because a year ago, even agreeing on the text was considered a deadlock, but in the end, we were able to agree on the text in March and sign it in August, so with more negotiations, more diplomatic effort, I think it will be possible [to sign the treaty] in the near future.”
