Baku may come under U.S. sanctions if it violates the agreements reached on August 8. A bill co-authored by Republican congressmen is currently being circulated in the U.S. Congress. The draft law envisages sanctions not only against Azerbaijani officials but also against the country’s oil and gas companies and banks.
Armenian experts assess the document rather positively and emphasize the importance of this initiative aimed at restraining Azerbaijan. In contrast, Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) structures operating in the United States have expressed concern. The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) has strongly criticized the bill, calling on Congress to focus on achieving genuine peace.
The initiators of the Peace Act consider the assessments made by the ARF representatives to be strange.
