Armenian drivers, regional issues discussed at Simonyan-Matvienko meeting

On February 5, the RA NA President, who is in Moscow on an official visit, met with the Speaker of the Federal Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, Armenia’s Parliament press office reports.

The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues regarding the bilateral agenda, both political and economic, as well as educational and cultural, with an emphasis, in particular, on the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation. The parties emphasized the important role of inter-parliamentary ties in the development of bilateral relations.

Separate attention was paid to the changes in the migration rules for foreign citizens in the Russian legislation, in particular, the problems that have arisen for Armenian drivers transporting goods to Russia as a result of them, and the steps taken to resolve them.

The parties also discussed the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as other issues of regional interest.

At the end of the meeting, Alen Simonyan and Valentina Matvienko answered journalists’ questions.
