Germany may declare state of emergency to support Ukraine: Scholz

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that he may declare a state of emergency in the country due to the need to continue providing financial assistance to Ukraine.

According to him, the establishment of a state of emergency, in accordance with the country’s Constitution, allows for the weakening of the debt brake, which prohibits spending more from the budget than it receives.

“The war in the center of Europe is an emergency, of course,” the Chancellor said during a speech at the Munich Security Conference.

He expressed confidence that the majority of the Bundestag will support this decision after the elections.

Earlier, the German Chancellor stated that the actions of the US presidential administration on the issue of Ukraine endanger the security of Germany and Europe, and this must be responded to.
