Today marks an important milestone for regional connectivity and peace. Armenian and Turkish officials met in Kars, Türkiye to announce the formation of a joint working group to renovate the Kars-Gyumri Railroad, a vital trade and transit connection that brought the region together for more than a century before the last train crossed the Türkiye-Armenia border in July 1993, US Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack stated on X.
“This progress reflects the vision advanced by the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity and the historic August 8 White House peace summit hosted by US President.
I applaud Türkiye and Armenia’s recent steps toward reconnecting their economies and peoples. A new South Caucasus – interconnected and at peace – is taking form, aligned with President Trump’s commitment to stability and prosperity in the region,” he stated.
