European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos has congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the outcome of Armenia’s parliamentary elections, describing the result as a reaffirmation of the Armenian people’s commitment to sovereignty and independence.
In a statement published on social media, Kos said the election victory came despite what she characterized as “far-reaching coercion and interference by Russia.”
The European commissioner also pledged continued European support for Armenia and announced plans to visit the country in the near future.
“I will come to Armenia as soon as possible — Europe’s solidarity with Armenia stands,” she said.
Kos further revealed that work would begin immediately within the newly established EU-Armenia Task Force, which aims to deepen cooperation and strengthen ties between Brussels and Yerevan.
“Today, we will also start our work in the new EU-Armenia Task Force to deepen our partnership,” she added.
