Russia and China are not main threats to Europe: Vance

US Vice President JD Vance spoke at the Munich Security Conference, and slammed European governments, Bild reports.

If people express their opinions and are punished for it, US President Donald Trump’s administration will do the exact opposite. People can have different opinions, and the Trump administration will work to ensure that these different views can exist, Vance said.

He cited the European Commission’s actions against social media as an example of restricting freedom of speech. According to the US politician, he cannot understand some European countries and looks at Europe with a certain anger.

The US vice president noted that the main threat to Europe is not other countries, but the undermining of its own values.

“The threat that I worry most about vis-à-vis Europe is not Russia, not China, it’s not any other external actor. What I worry about is the threat from within [Europe], the retreat of Europe from some of its most fundamental values,” Vance said.
