U.S. helped prevent Armenia–Azerbaijan war, Rubio

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that US diplomatic intervention helped prevent a potential war between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Summing up the results of the year in a video message, Rubio paid special attention to Armenia–Azerbaijan relations and the peace declaration signed in Washington. He said the United States had managed to prevent and resolve several international conflicts through diplomacy.

Referring to the peace declaration signed on August 8 in Washington in the presence of US President Donald Trump, Rubio said that a war between Azerbaijan and Armenia could have started and would have been terrible, but was prevented.

The Secretary of State also noted that key security commitments made by the US President are being implemented, adding that “the best is yet to come.”
