On 9 June 2026, H.E. Mr. Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the United Nations, participated in the Interactive Multi-Stakeholder Hearing held in preparation for the High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response (PPPR), in his capacity as Co-Facilitator of the intergovernmental negotiations on the Political Declaration.
The hearing brought together Member States, UN entities, civil society, youth, parliamentarians and the private sector to exchange views on strengthening global preparedness for future pandemics.
In his closing remarks, Ambassador Hovhannisyan highlighted the importance of multilateralism, equitable access to health tools, community engagement, resilient health systems and sustainable financing. He also stressed the need to combat disinformation and to ensure that investments made today translate into stronger national capacities tomorrow.
“Investments now can save not only lives in the future, but also reduce costs,” Ambassador Hovhannisyan noted.
The contributions and recommendations shared during the hearing will help inform the preparation of the draft Political Declaration ahead of intergovernmental negotiations.
