A historic meeting was held in the Oval Office of the White House: Armenian spiritual leaders and the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the United States were hosted by US President Donald Trump, offering a collective prayer for Armenia, the United States, and President Trump for his support in establishing peace in Armenia. “The Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the United States, in cooperation with the White House Faith Office, initiated a meeting during which Armenian spiritual leaders in the US and Ambassador Mkrtchyan met with President Donald Trump, Head of the White House Faith Office and long-time spiritual advisor to the US President Paula White-Cain, and White House Faith Office Director Jennifer S. Korn.
The meeting was attended by the Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian; Primate of the Eastern Diocese, Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan; Primates of the Eastern and Western Dioceses of the Armenian Apostolic Church Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia, Archbishop Anoushavan Tanielian and Bishop Mikael Mouradian; and Senior Pastor of the Armenian Evangelical Union of North America, Rev. Henrik Shahnazarian.
During the meeting, ideas were exchanged regarding Armenia-US relations, the Christian-civilizational ties between the two peoples, religious freedoms, as well as efforts aimed at establishing peace and stability.
The necessity of establishing peace and strengthening mutual understanding among nations was emphasized, highlighting the significance of faith and spiritual values in this process.
The Armenian spiritual leaders offered a collective prayer, asking God’s blessing for the well-being and future of the peoples of Armenia and the United States, as well as for the friendship between the two countries.
In their prayer, the spiritual leaders also touched upon the efforts directed toward peacebuilding, emphasizing the contribution of US President Donald Trump to the peace process established in Armenia,” the statement reads.
