We hope Armenia will have its own oil refinery, where Iranian crude oil will be processed into the petroleum products needed to supply both Armenia and markets beyond its borders. Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgolami made the remarks during a press conference.
“In the context of free trade and economic zones, we believe that if we can strengthen the connection between Iran’s Aras Free Trade-Industrial Zone and the Meghri Free Economic Zone, this will create new opportunities for further economic achievements.
As for transit issues, if we are able to open the railway connecting Julfa to the Black Sea, this will also generate new economic revenue for Armenia,” the ambassador said, while emphasizing that there is untapped potential in all sectors that could open up new prospects for both countries.
