To promote alignment of Yerevan and Tehran’s approaches and identify new areas of cooperation: Armenia-Iran Conference launched in Syunik


The Armenia-Iran Conference commenced in Syunik Province, bringing together representatives and experts from leading Armenian and Iranian think tanks. The information was reported by the Office of the Governor of Syunik Province.

The official opening ceremony was attended by Syunik Governor Robert Ghukasyan, who delivered welcoming remarks. In his speech, the governor highly praised the Armenian-Iranian friendship and its significance for Armenia, particularly for Syunik Province. He welcomed the participants and wished them productive and successful discussions.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia, Khalil Shirgolami, also welcomed the participants and thanked them for attending. He expressed confidence that the work carried out by the expert groups could further strengthen cooperation between the two friendly countries.

The conference aims to promote the alignment of Yerevan’s and Tehran’s approaches, identify new areas of bilateral cooperation, and develop practical recommendations for decision-making bodies.

During the conference, expert discussions will focus on political, economic, regional developments, and other issues.

The conference is expected to result in a set of recommendations and the development of further programs for institutional cooperation between Armenian and Iranian expert communities.
